Tracking is really great, but with games like In death I lost the tracking a lot whilst holding the controller near my ear. Screen is pretty good, but with high contrast scenes you still get some artifacts around the near blacks. Got a bit around the whole facebook thing by signing in with my GFs account and disabeling wifi after install. edit - Just found out tomshardware did a review two days ago and was dissapointed by the tracking. Then again, I do not have any experience with the G1 or G2 but the tracking in the G2 should be great. Are you just looking for a fun and solid VR experience I would wait for the G2. If it's going to be competitive shooters or games that heavily depend on solid tracking go for something with lighthouses. Just ask yourself what you'll be playing most of the time, If it would be a lot of dark games, go for OLED. I don't want a headset with camera's in my home linked to facebook. I'm impressed with the clarity of the Valve index but it's still not really enough for sim games that are made for realism.Ībout the Quest 2, that's a hard pass for me because of the facebook integration. OLED is awesome but I don't know if I would buy the Vive just for that, unless you plan to play a lot of dark/horror games you will get used to LCD (and for the occasional dark scene, well it's not that great but it won't totally blow the immersion). Before I got my Valve Index I used to think they were okay/pretty good but they are really immersion breaking. The vive wands on the other hand are awful. I redo the setup every time I want to play and it will get annoying in the long run, It's just 3 minutes or so but it's an annoying extra step and may withhold you from a fast game session. Don't underestimate the setup process though, if you've got a dedicated VR room or you can just install the lighthouses somewhere forever it'll be okay. When talking about tracking there obviously is no difference and I'm keen to find out how inside out tracking works. My experiences are just limited to the these headsets while I'm waiting for my G2 order. But I do have the Valve index and the HTC Vive (not pro). So let me start by saying I don't have any experience with the Reverb G2 yet. I'm becoming sad and desperate to experience VR now :( I know I have mentioned value, and paradoxically that money isn't and issue, but I think having lighthouse tracking, a decent display, and being immediately available makes it quite tempting. Index: brutally difficult/expensive to import here, although money isn't such an issue, availability is low. Not many p+more pros actually, value is low. Pimax: Great res/fov, but the controllers (Index knuckles) they ship with are indefinitely unavailable. Also heard many build quality issues, audio issues, value diminishes with essential upgrades, and again, fuck Facebook. Quest 2: for simply price/quality in visuals and tracking, simple bang for your buck but fuck Facebook. Concerned with the visual quality and the included controllers ergonomics. Vive Pro: for OLED and lighthouse tracking, as well as decent resolution, and obviously immediate availability, compatibility with knuckles. I am considering the following at this point: HP have let most of us down, and I feel that accurate tracking, continuous immersion, user experience, compatibility, controller quality and usage, and versatility are starting to stack up against pure resolution and comfort advantages. however I am becoming increasingly restless and discouraged. I have a pre-order likely to be delivered halfway through December earliest. This will be my first VR set up, my PC is fully capable and money is no issue.
